About The Position
The Urban Lab in the Department of Entomology at Penn State, University Park, seeks a highly motivated student research assistant to perform field and lab-based research on spotted lanternfly behavior for the summer term, to work 30-40 hours per week. The candidate will assist with the collection of experimental data on the University Park campus and in and around vineyards in areas of high infestation in eastern Pennsylvania.
Requirements
- Must be a current Penn State student.
- Must be able to work 30-40 hours per week.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check.
- Must successfully complete background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Responsibilities
- Assisting with insect population monitoring (using traps and/or visual surveys)
- Collecting insects
- Greenhouse plant care
- Rearing insect colonies
- Conducting behavioral assays
- Performing general laboratory biology protocols
Benefits
- The starting rate for this job is $18/hour.
