Part-Time Lab and Field Research Assistant
About The Position
The Department of Ecosystem Science and Management is seeking lab and field research assistants to work in the Allen Stream Ecology Lab at Penn State. This is a part-time position. Field duties will include assisting with travel to field sites, carrying equipment to stream research sites (which may be off-trail and in rugged conditions), installing and maintaining sensors and data loggers, measuring stream habitat variables, sampling water, collecting aquatic organisms, and taking field notes. Lab duties will include assisting with processing aquatic organism samples, using microscopes, conducting molecular analyses, cleaning lab equipment, and taking lab notes.
Requirements
- Must operate a motor vehicle as part of job duties.
- Valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check
- Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
Responsibilities
- Assisting other lab members in traveling to field sites
