The student research assistant will support the initial development of a research project in computational social choice theory, an interdisciplinary field spanning computer science, mathematics, economics, and political science. The role begins with learning foundational social choice theory through assigned readings and guidance from the faculty supervisor, followed by developing familiarity with current research topics and methodologies. The assistant will identify, locate, and read relevant research articles; prepare brief summaries of key findings and open questions; and share promising directions for further investigation. The work will help map the existing literature, identify opportunities for undergraduate research projects, and help the faculty supervisor evaluate potential avenues for future research. The position requires strong reading and analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn unfamiliar technical material independently.
