About The Position

A full-time research assistant position is available in the Barker Laboratory at the Drexel University College of Medicine, in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology. The Barker Lab combines traditional and cutting-edge techniques to investigate the neural circuits that mediate cognitive control and behavioral flexibility in animal models of neuropsychiatric illnesses, including addiction. Applicants must be comfortable working with mice and have an interest in investigating the neurobiology of neuropsychiatric illnesses using in vivo electrophysiology, chemogenetics, and optogenetics. This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, neuroscience, or equivalent or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Applicant is expected to work with as a team to perform behavioral experiments in collaboration with lab members and Dr. Barker.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling mice.
  • Experience in MATLAB or R.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
