The Department of Biology is seeking a Research Assistant to assist with studies using diverse budding yeast species, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida glabrata, and Candida auris, to elucidate the functions and evolution of fungal adhesins in the Hyr/Iff-like family. The duties of this Laboratory Research Assistant position includes basic yeast genetics, molecular cloning, and cell biology assays for adhesion functions. The individual is responsible for conducting these experiments following protocols provided by the lab, carefully recording all procedures in paper and electronic lab notebooks, archiving the raw data on lab servers (RDSS), and analyzing the data using general and statistical programming languages such as Python and R. Analysis code and outputs must be carefully documented in a git version-controlled repository. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization. Position is 100% onsite.
