About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University's Mellon College of Science (MCS) in the Biological Sciences department is seeking a Research Assistant to support undergraduate lab classes. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of labs by preparing materials, managing inventory and equipment, and directly impacting the hands-on learning experience for students. The ideal candidate will thrive in an organized environment and enjoy collaborating with instructors, TAs, and students.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
• Child Protection Clearances (Act 153).
• OSHA Hazardous Materials Safety Training.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in research, data collection, analysis, and record management are highly preferred.
• A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for making solutions and prep materials for lab classes.
• Maintains stock lab supplies in the UG labs in both MI and DH.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and glassware.
• Performs specific lab duties as required by the lab classes.
• Prepares solutions and aliquots materials for lab classes.
• Ability to work with Instructors, staff Teaching Assistants and students.
