About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Research Assistant to join our Animal Operations team in Greenfield, IN! In this position you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances. You’ll be maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).

Requirements

Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or related program OR Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences field
1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation
Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment

Nice To Haves

Prior animal research experience
Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings
Good time management skills
AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!

Responsibilities

Conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances.
May provide husbandry duties to small and large animals
May perform various dosing techniques with small and large animals
May perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals
Collect biological samples
Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
Maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC)
Perform medical imaging
Monitor for behavior changes
Document findings in LIMS
Report on any animals concerns to supervisor
