About The Position

The Research Assistant II role is based within the Interventional Radiology department, which supports translational and applied research focused on image-guided therapies and the development of innovative biomaterials and medical devices. The Research Assistant II contributes to laboratory-based research activities involving biomaterials, imaging technologies, and preclinical models that advance interventional radiology applications. The Research Assistant II works closely with professional staff and research teams to support ongoing laboratory and imaging-based studies. The ideal candidate for this role brings hands-on laboratory research experience with a working knowledge of basic chemistry, biology, experimental design, and data processing. Experience with biomaterials, cell culture, imaging research, or preclinical models is beneficial, along with the ability to work independently, document research findings, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary research teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Basic Science
  • 1 year Scientific or experimental research work experience
  • Working knowledge of basic chemistry, biology, experimental design, and data processing

Responsibilities

  • Participate in scientific research projects under the direction of a professional staff member
  • Assist in the synthesis of scaffolds, multifunctional nanoparticles based on gold, SPIO, and polymers, as well as microbubbles, liposomes, and micelles
  • Develop and support projects involving injectable bone cements and absorbable medical devices
  • Prepare phantoms for imaging experiments
  • Process and maintain cell cultures independently without direct hourly oversight
  • Assist in collecting biological tissue from laboratory rodents
  • Process imaging data and assist with imaging protocol adjustments based on experimental findings
  • Support the operation of clinical and experimental imaging scanners, including CT, MRI, PET/CT, and optical imaging systems, based on experience level
  • Compile research data and submit results for inclusion in publications, grants, and protocols
  • Apply word processing, spreadsheet, graphic, and statistical software to create charts, posters, and reports
  • Present research findings during laboratory meetings
  • Participate in lab activities to promote and support ongoing projects
  • Train visiting scientists and students in research procedures and laboratory equipment use
  • Attend seminars and review scientific literature related to ongoing experiments
  • Provide administrative support for educational programs involving graduate and medical students
  • Demonstrate diligence, willingness to learn, and readiness to support the implementation of new techniques
  • Perform other duties as assigned
