About The Position

This position is for an Interventional Radiology Technologist within the growing BILH team, where individuals make a difference in people’s lives. The department performs the latest procedures with state-of-the-art equipment and is building a new Interventional Radiology Department that will include IR, U/S, and CT procedures. The environment fosters collaboration among Physicians, Nurses, NP/PAs, and Technologists, creating a great teaching and team atmosphere. Under the direction of the Technical Director of IR/INR, the technologist will perform a wide variety of Diagnostic and Interventional procedures according to physician orders. The role demands a high level of technical knowledge, skill, and the ability to work closely with a team of medical and technical staff. Responsibilities also include participation in research projects, inventory management, staff training, and the evaluation/instruction of new techniques and equipment. The technologist will interact with patients daily, ensuring a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment.

Requirements

  • Vocational or Technical training in Radiologic Technology required.
  • State Licensure as a MA Radiologic Technologist-Radiography required.
  • Registration as a RT (R) (ARRT) required.
  • Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.
  • 1-3 years specifically related work experience required.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including some web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications that may include Outlook, Word, or Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology preferred.
  • 2 years of Special Procedure, Interventional Radiology, or Cardiac Cath. Lab. experience preferred.
  • Credentialing with ARRT as a Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and follow departmental guidelines and protocols in the performance of all diagnostic and neurointerventional radiologic procedures.
  • Follow infection control, sterile technique and contrast media protocols.
  • Perform operation of imaging and interventional equipment (U/S, CT 3-D, Digital subtraction, Angiojet).
  • Evaluate image quality.
  • Maintain knowledge of and responsibility for supply inventory, expiration and stocking.
  • Perform monthly checks for supply expiration, patient database, eyewash and equipment competencies.
  • Cooperate and assist with shift coverage and on-call responsibilities.
  • Follow departmental guidelines and protocols in the scheduling and documentation of exams (imaging, PACS, etc.), maintaining accurate and complete records relative to the examination performed.
  • Maintain a friendly, respectful manner with patients and be responsive to the patient's physical, psychological and social needs.
  • Explain procedures clearly and concisely.
  • Maintain proper hand hygiene.
  • Cooperate and assist with cross-training and orientation of other employees and students.
  • Assist with tasks that facilitate the operational flow of the unit.
  • Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and to all federal regulations with regard to radiation safety.
  • Wear a lead apron and stand for long periods of time, multitask, work quickly and efficiently.
