Interventional Radiology (IR) technologist is responsible for providing patient services using invasive cardiovascular technology under the direction of a provider, leading to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired organ and vascular disease. This role involves performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures at a level that does not require constant supervision of technical detail. IR technologists assist in a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment, good knowledge of anatomy, and high technical knowledge of equipment. The IR technologist must maintain constant awareness of infection control standards, the importance of sterility, and acute awareness of patient care protocols. The IR technologist will represent the Organization to the IR patient in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
