The Rosenthal lab at the MBL is hiring a full-time Research Assistant II for up to 40 hours per week. This shared appointment is split equally between two projects: one directed by Dr. Rosenthal and the other by Dr. Diaz Quiroz. The initial appointment is for two years, with a possible extension of up to one year based on job performance. The role offers training in molecular, genetic, and histological approaches using emerging model organisms, with research spanning environmental regulation of RNA editing and the neural control of limb regeneration. On the Rosenthal project, the Research Assistant will support genetic studies in squid and amphipods, including generating CRISPR knockouts of RNA-editing-related genes in Euprymna berryi and circatidal-clock-related genes in Parhyale hawaiiensis. On the Diaz Quiroz project, the Research Assistant will help characterize the role of neuropeptides during limb regeneration in axolotls and mice. General duties include maintaining equipment and reagent stocks, keeping meticulous records, collaborating with lab members, and participating in weekly lab meetings.
