About The Position

We are hiring a Research Assistant II (Full-time) to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Houston. In this role, you will support the planning and implementation of school-based vaccination clinics by assisting with clinic preparation, community outreach, participant recruitment, data collection, and administrative activities. The role also involves regular travel within Harris County, conducting parent surveys, supporting education events, maintaining project materials and supplies, and ensuring compliance with research, university, and study protocols. An ideal candidate should have one year of related experience in a research or community-based setting, REDCap experience also a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field, preferred. Bilingual and fluent in English/Spanish, highly preferred. Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation, position requires regular travel to multiple sites each week (mileage reimbursement is provided). Position Summary: All for Them is a multilevel, multicomponent program that aims to increase Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among youth in multiple medically underserved areas across Texas. Project activities include delivery of a bilingual social marketing/education campaign, school-based vaccination clinics at public middle and high schools, and school nurse education to improve communication with parents about HPV vaccination. Position Key Accountabilities: Assists project coordinators with day-to-day activities, organizing project materials, and administrative tasks, as needed. Prepares vaccine consent packet materials for adolescent vaccination clinics held in three Houston-area public schools districts in middle and high schools. Participates in preparation for and implementation of school-based vaccination clinic activities. Regular travel within Harris County is required 2-3 times per week on average (up to 35 miles from the Texas Medical Center). Assists with implementation of parent and community education events and activities. Rare evening or weekend work may be required for these events. Assists with program evaluation activities, including field-based data collection and data entry. Conducts recruitment and administers phone surveys to parents of middle school students in partner districts. Survey administration may be scheduled for evenings or weekends periodically. Mains project and office supplies and keeps up with re-stocking needs. Learns and follows all human subject research trainings to ensure respect for and protection of human subjects. Learns and follows all study protocols to ensure accuracy and standardization of procedures. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Strongly prefer fully bilingual in English and Spanish – speak, read, and write.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Google Drive applications, and internet use.
  • Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects must be completed within 5 days of employment.
  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
