Research Scientist - Rollins School of Public Health
About The Position
The research team of Dr. Aaron Siegler in the Epidemiology Department at Emory University is seeking to hire a Research Scientist to work on several NIH-funded studies in HIV prevention epidemiology and digital health intervention research across local and/or international settings. These studies include: Establishing a PrEP Epidemiology, Modeling and Surveillance System (PREMISE), Improving telePrEP initiation and retention outcomes in the US (MISTR+ study), and The Elección (Choice) Cohort in Peru. The Research Scientist will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects, contribute to other ongoing work in Dr. Siegler’s research lab within PRISM Health, develop independent research proposals, lead manuscripts, and present scientific work at national/international scientific conferences. For early-career researchers, the team is committed to providing mentorship to help identify and carve out an area of expertise to launch their careers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Strong technical background.
- Hands-on bench scientist.
Nice To Haves
- MD, DVM, or PhD with experience in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or other relevant quantitative field.
- Excellent scientific writing ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in data management using SAS, R, or other statistical software.
- Experience in analysis of clinical trial data and/or national claims data.
- Experience HIV prevention, PrEP, or digital health.
Responsibilities
- Develops biochemical and cell-based assays, with the use of such assays to perform high throughput screening of small molecule libraries.
- Develops and executes lower throughput biochemical or cell-based assays for structural optimization of hit compounds.
- Communicates with biomedical investigators and medicinal chemists.
- May supervise staff.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
- Work closely with Principal Investigator in all aspects of the research.
- Contribute to quantitative research in HIV prevention.
- Design, conduct and lead quantitative studies.
- Use statistical software to derive quantitative research findings.
- Work as part of a team to develop scientific data.
- Prepare and publish manuscripts as first author in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute as co-author to manuscripts.
- Contribute to data visualization output.
- Contribute to project development efforts.
