Works under general direction to provide responsible and skilled technical assistance in performing assignments requiring experience and good knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of medical and scientific research. The candidate will be responsible for the management and maintenance of Dr. Zigman's laboratory mouse colony, which typically consists of approximately 400-650 cages at any given time. Responsibilities include performing genotyping (PCR and gel electrophoresis), establishing and monitoring breeding colonies, maintaining accurate and well-organized colony records and tracking spreadsheets, coordinating tasks with other laboratory personnel, and ensuring meticulous record-keeping while maintaining cost efficiency. The individual will also provide technical support to other researchers within the laboratory as needed.
