About The Position

The Research Assistant (RA) will perform experiments to support multiple projects in the lab. The type of work will include, but is not limited to, animal behaviour, biochemical analyses, molecular and cell biology experiments, histology, flow cytometry, and cell culture. The RA will maintain a complete paper and electronic lab notebook and will work directly with and support students, postdocs, and other members of the lab. When requested, the RA will manage the progress of individual research projects.

Requirements

  • BSc in Cell and Molecular Biology or a similar field.
  • Prior experience in neuroscience research labs.
  • Expertise with relevant experimental techniques including immunofluorescent staining, in situ hybridization, confocal and fluorescent microscopy, and advanced image analysis.
  • Familiarity with pain neuroimmunology.
  • Dissection skills for relevant tissues.
  • Demonstrable experience with electronic lab notebooks.
  • Excellent record keeping and experimental planning.
  • Proficiency with image analysis programs.
  • Proficiency with figure design programs.
  • Demonstrable excellent, independent scientific writing ability (e.g., from undergraduate thesis research project).
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec.
  • English communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

  • Expertise in extracellular matrix biology.
