About The Position

The Clinical Research Support Unit (CSRU) in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan is seeking one full-time Research Analysts. The position provides analytical support, expertise, and research assistance to researchers undertaking various projects within the SK Health Data Research Platform (HRDP-SK). This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) reports to the Director of the Clinical Research Support Unit. Duties focus on computer-based quantitative analysis and reporting and are subject to multiple peak periods that may be stressful due to high volumes of work and tight deadlines. The position establishes and maintains a level of professional relationships that supports exceptional collaboration with researchers. Judgment and decision-making follow established procedures and guidelines. The position handles confidential data, and work is subject to applicable ethical codes of conduct and privacy legislation.

Requirements

  • A research-based master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or other related fields encompassing a quantitative research approach. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Significant statistical analysis experience working with large databases in a team-based research setting and various programming languages such as SAS (including macros), R, and SQL.

Nice To Haves

  • SAS-certified (Base, Advanced, Clinical trials, etc.)
  • Experience working with Canadian administrative data holdings (in SK and/or other jurisdictions in Canada), including but not limited to: Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), National Ambulatory Reporting System (NACRS), physician billing claims, medication dispensation claims, etc.
  • Experience with the Canadian Census, the Postal Code Conversion File (PCCF), and knowledge of Statistics Canada’s Standard geographical classification
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and reliably with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop SAS/R codes following the specifications of the project’s analysis plans
  • Extract and merge large data sets from different sources (administrative data, survey data, clinical data, etc.) according to data creation plans (DCP)
  • Manipulate and clean data, create variables, and prepare study cohorts
  • Perform statistical analysis on developed study cohorts according to specifications of project analysis plans
  • Generate tables, listings, and figures suitable for publication,
  • Interpret results and contribute to manuscripts and other deliverables
  • Develop and maintain reusable code and tools such as SAS macros
  • Adopt, learn, and apply advanced analytical methods for various research projects,
  • Review and participate in the development of statistical and methodological aspects of manuscripts and posters
  • Participate in statistical and methodological consultation with HRDP-SK research teams,
  • Support the development and delivery of computer software workshops and training courses (SAS/R)
  • Develop and maintain project-related documentation.
