This role requires an individual well-versed in advanced rescue techniques and equipment, capable of handling diverse rescue situations including high hoists, confined areas, elevated platforms, off-center hoists, water rescue, and boat operations. The position involves participating in operations during both day and night, often in adverse weather conditions, and acting as an observer when needed. A key responsibility is the packaging and handling of patients/survivors from the scene into the helicopter, and assisting the flight paramedic with patient care or rendering care based on the employee's medical certification. Post-flight decontamination of the helicopter after mission completion is also required. The role includes inventory, inspection, and minor maintenance of rescue equipment, devices, and aviation life support equipment. Additionally, the Rescue Specialist will deploy rescue equipment and assist with ground rescue operations as required. Participation in Safety Management System (SMS) activities, including promoting a safety culture, reporting safety issues, and adhering to SMS goals, is essential.
