About The Position

The Resale Associate supports the SAAFE Shoppe, which generates additional funding for program services and promotes services provided by the SAAFE House. The role is responsible for marketing, social media management, online sales, preparing and pricing items, and assisting customers with purchases. The associate also supports volunteers, interns, agency activities, and the shop’s daily operations. The position is part-time and based at the SAAFE Shoppe in Huntsville. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:00, with some evenings and weekends required. Schedules may change to meet agency needs. The role reports to the Community Relations Director and is non-exempt.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Reliable transportation and current auto insurance as required by the State of Texas.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to understand and comply with confidentiality policies.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and organize the work area.
Ability to remain calm while coping with crisis situations.
Ability to be flexible and change duties with short notice as needed.
Ability to work independently without supervision.
Ability to adopt and practice the agency model of open, honest, and ethical communication.

Nice To Haves

Retail or resale experience preferred.
Bilingual ability preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Sort and prepare donated items for sale, including steaming items as needed.
Price items for resale and display them neatly in appropriate racks or shelves.
Maintain general cleanliness and basic daily maintenance of the resale area.
Help customers locate merchandise and check out their purchases.
Verify outgoing donation records for client service advocates and volunteers.
Work with the Community Relations Director to develop sales growth opportunities.
Help train and work with volunteers, interns, and other placements on SAAFE Shoppe duties and responsibilities.
Promote the SAAFE Shoppe online through social media and marketing in coordination with the Community Relations Director.
Build and maintain an online shopping presence on the website.
Track shop supplies and complete order forms as needed.
Use SAAFE Shoppe software and ensure it is updated and working correctly.
Attend training approved by the Community Relations Director and meetings pertinent to job performance.
Assist in creating and maintaining a job manual covering resale shop functions and procedures.
Assist with the annual SAAFE Shoppe inventory.
Manage and submit documentation of hours worked according to agency policies.
Rotate items displayed in the SAAFE Shoppe display window.
Provide quality customer service to the general public.
Attend agency sponsor community events as needed and bring customer concerns to the Community Relations Director.
Perform other assigned duties and position-related data entry.
Follow confidentiality policies and communicate openly, honestly, ethically, and effectively with clients, customers, and staff.
Manage multiple tasks, prioritize and organize work, remain calm in crisis situations, adapt to changes in duties, and work independently.
