About The Position

Primary Field Health and Safety support for gas operations team, which includes various compressor stations, meter stations and pipeline rights-of-way South Florida. This position will support the operations team in all aspects of developing a strong culture of safety. The Safety representative will be responsible for supporting operation employees to ensure safety compliance is met across their respective responsibilities. The individual will need to travel within their territory on a frequent basis and communicate effectively with various internal clients on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform incident investigations using appropriate techniques and to identify and correct root causes
  • Ability to assume & perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
  • Work well with others and also be able to perform work independently.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Have knowledge of safety rules and practices and a very good safety record.
  • Have basic computer skills.
  • Have a history of being dependable & reliable.
  • Good organizational skills, good customer relations skills, and a record of very positive work performance.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent, 6+ YOE

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 6+ years general experience in the oil/gas industry

Responsibilities

  • Champion the company’s safety policies and programs and be a highly visible safety leader and encourage others in the area of safety.
  • Lead by example.
  • Assist with Work Planning for critical safe work tasks and review Work Plans that are sent to the Safety Representatives.
  • Lead and/or participate in Pre-Job Safety Meetings with ETP or contract representatives prior to a project.
  • Visit field work to evaluate Safety Program compliance during various activities.
  • Keep area/division up to date on Corporate Safety Department initiatives, company statistics, and district specific statistics.
  • Act as a SME for safety related issues.
  • Consult with division, area and local management and teams on safety related issues.
  • Work with the Corporate Safety Department to provide interpretations of regulatory standards, company procedures and polices related to safety.
  • Stay up to date on all company policy and procedure changes.
  • Stay up to date on regulatory and/or industry changes related to safety.
  • Attend training as required to maintain knowledge and proficiency.
  • Review SDS requests as part of the chemical approval process.
  • Assist management and DOT drivers with regulatory and company procedure vehicle and driver compliance.
  • Provide training to field techs on safety SOPs.
  • Assist with the entering of unwanted events and near misses into the IMS system.
  • Follow up as needed on safety related reports to verify they are progressed and completed in a timely manner and ensure all require reporting forms are submitted.
  • Provide safety-related training to employees as needed.
  • Attend and/or lead company safety meetings as needed.
  • Review quarterly exception reports for accuracy prior to distribution.
  • Attend / participate in bi-weekly Safety Representative conference calls and annual meetings.
  • Conduct local safety audits or inspections of facilities and assets.
  • Conduct quality job reviews of projects and operations to verify compliance with company policies and procedures with special consideration to LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Electrical, Cranes and Excavation projects.
  • Take part in Corporate Safety compliance audits.
  • Work with area management to identify corrective actions for findings during audits, inspections and reviews.
  • Follow up as needed on corrective actions to verify they are progressed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with and verify facility compliance with reoccurring reviews and tasks such as Driving Hazard Surveys, LOTO Reviews, PPE Hazard Assessments, etc.
  • Conduct or assist with incident or near miss investigations as needed.
  • Work as part of and/or lead incident investigations.
  • Apply root cause methodologies such as TapRoot to identify root causes of incidents.
  • Work with management to develop corrective actions to prevent unwanted events as needed.
  • Follow up as needed on corrective actions to verify they are progressed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Review and categorize near miss vs good catch entries and review engagements in IMS.
  • Conduct sound level surveys as needed.
  • Conduct air sampling and monitoring as needed.
  • Conduct lighting surveys as needed.
  • Conduct lead surveys as needed.
  • Conduct asbestos surveys as needed.
  • Secure or assist with securing contractors to complete industrial hygiene surveys.
  • Complete and/or review documentation and submit to the IH database.
  • Assist teams with NORM sampling training, respirator fit testing and documentation during required tasks.
  • Maintain working knowledge to expert knowledge level in the use of company applications and databases as applicable including but not limited to: SDSOnline, Intelex, My Learning, Veriforce/Verisource.
