About The Position

The New York Times is hiring reporters for its 2027 Fellowship class. Fellows join a news or features department, report directly to desk editors, and develop their journalism skills while working with editors and reporters across the newsroom. They may produce traditional reported articles, live updates, explainers, and stories that put visuals first, and are expected to engage with readers through varied forms of storytelling. Fellows may be assigned to coverage areas including Business, Climate, Culture, Express, International, Investigations, Metro, National, Obituaries, Politics, Science, Technology, Washington, or Well. All fellows, including the International reporting fellow, are based in New York unless otherwise noted; the Technology fellow is based in San Francisco and the Washington fellow in Washington. The fellowship is scheduled to begin on or about June 7, 2027, and end on May 26, 2028, subject to satisfactory performance. Completion does not guarantee a full-time position. The position is represented by the NewsGuild of New York.
