Our Nashville depot is the first proof point in a multi-market expansion, and we're building the team to sustain and scale it. Reporting to the Operations Manager, AV Deployment, Flexdrive is seeking an exceptional Repair Operations Lead to help run the day-to-day service operations supporting our AV fleet. You'll work alongside a second Repair Operations Lead as a partnered pair, sharing coverage and accountability for the floor. This is a people-first leadership role. You will lead and mentor our repair coordinators, hold both the coordinator team and our on-site technicians (a 3rd party partner) accountable to quality and turnaround expectations, and keep the partnership running smoothly so the fleet stays available. We're looking for a strong people leader rather than a deep technical expert. Service advisor or service drive experience is helpful because you'll be fluent in the workflow, but what matters most is your ability to develop a team, set clear expectations, and hold the line on them without losing the room. You should be comfortable managing an external partner relationship day to day, balancing a collaborative working rapport with firm accountability. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
4+ years of progressive experience in fleet maintenance management, automotive service operations, or technical training leadership.
3+ years of experience managing technical teams including hiring, training, performance management, and development of skilled technicians.
2+ years of experience developing and delivering technical training programs, preferably in automotive or fleet maintenance environments.
Proven expertise in electric vehicle systems, diagnostic procedures, and advanced automotive technologies (AV experience highly preferred).
Strong understanding of maintenance management systems, KPI tracking, and data-driven decision making for fleet operations.
Experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, and third-party service provider oversight.
Demonstrated success implementing quality management systems, safety management systems and continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean preferred).
Exceptional communication skills with ability to interface effectively with technical teams, executive leadership, and external partners.
Current ASE certifications preferred; ability to obtain required partner certifications within 90 days.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Advanced diagnostic skills for electric and autonomous vehicle systems
Proficiency with fleet management systems (Carman experience preferred)
SAP or similar ERP system expertise for parts and maintenance tracking
Data analysis and reporting capabilities for performance metrics
Understanding of ISO quality standards and automotive compliance requirements

Responsibilities

Serve as the day-to-day point of accountability for our onsite repair partner, holding their technicians to agreed quality, turnaround, and certification standards across all shifts, and escalating gaps through the right channels before they affect fleet availability.
Manage and optimize repair workflows across technician teams, balancing workload, prioritizing critical repairs, and ensuring SLA compliance for all maintenance activities.
Work closely with the internal teams that own our third-party relationships and offsite collision repairs, acting as the site-level point of contact so vehicles route correctly, status stays visible, and repair timelines hold. You'll surface issues from the floor to those teams and carry their requirements back to the site so both sides stay aligned.
Conduct regular performance reviews, skills assessments, and development planning for technical staff, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Get new repair coordinators up to speed on their core responsibilities — work order management, vehicle intake and staging, documentation, and the systems they'll live in day to day — so they're contributing confidently and correctly.
Teach the team how the depot actually runs: how work flows from intake through repair and release, how their role connects to the technicians and the internal teams upstream and downstream, and what good looks like at each handoff.
Provide regular, direct feedback through side-by-sides, one-on-ones, and in-the-moment coaching. Identify where each coordinator wants to grow, build a path for them, and address performance gaps early and honestly.
Monitor and improve key metrics including Mean Time to Recovery, Vehicle Turnaround Time, and Diagnosis Escalation Rate.
Implement and maintain quality control processes ensuring all maintenance work meets partner specifications and safety standards.
Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules, manage maintenance change requests, and ensure compliance with partner fleet management system requirements.
Lead root cause analysis for technical issues working with our 3rd party partner, implementing corrective actions, and developing preventive measures to reduce repeat failures.
Directly supervise parts and service writing coordination, ensuring seamless integration between parts allocation, work order documentation, and inventory management while maintaining accuracy and compliance standards.
Oversee Material Coordinator activities, ensuring optimal parts inventory levels, secure storage of proprietary components, and compliance with chain of custody standards.
Analyze parts consumption patterns, forecast requirements, and coordinate with partner aftermarket teams to prevent stockouts while minimizing carrying costs.
Manage relationships with parts suppliers, negotiate service agreements, and ensure timely delivery of critical components.
Oversee quarantine and disposition procedures for non-conforming parts, ensuring proper documentation and handling.
Ensure all personnel maintain required qualifications through partner learning management systems, conducting monthly verification reviews per standards.
Collaborate with the safety team to ensure all maintenance activities comply with EHS requirements, including battery safety, hazardous materials handling, and hot work procedures.
Maintain comprehensive documentation hierarchy including job descriptions, safety protocols, training records, and maintenance logs per partner requirements.
Ensure all technical operations meet federal, state, and local regulations including EPA, OSHA, and AV-specific requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing performance data to identify optimization opportunities and implement best practices across technical operations.
Forecast staffing needs, training requirements, and infrastructure upgrades to support fleet growth and operational scaling.
Partner with Operations Manager, Depot Operations Leads, and partner technical teams to ensure seamless integration of maintenance and depot operations.
Establish and maintain technical knowledge base, documenting lessons learned, best practices, and troubleshooting guides for common issues.
Champion a comprehensive culture of safety through proactive engagement. Leading by example in following all safety requirements; educating the team on safety protocols; proactively identifying risks; managing incidents, including reporting and investigation.
