About The Position

PlanITROI is seeking a highly skilled Lead Computer Repair Technician for a temp-to-perm position, with the potential for full-time conversion following a successful 90-day evaluation period. This senior-level role is the highest technical tier within the repair department and oversees day-to-day activities on the repair floor, including expert diagnostics, advanced board-level repairs, and workflow leadership. This role sits alongside ownership of daily production targets, work assignment across the team, and performance reporting to management. This role is ideal for individuals with deep hardware expertise, strong problem-solving ability, and the leadership skills to guide, elevate, and hold the repair team accountable for daily output.

Requirements

  • 3+ years troubleshooting and performing repairs at a high production level on AIOs, laptops, PC, smartphones, servers, and Tablets
  • Expert-level hardware diagnostics with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex or intermittent hardware failures.
  • Ability to perform advanced board‑level and component‑level repairs, including power circuitry, system boards, and micro‑component replacements.
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise models and OEM part numbers to ensure accurate parts are being ordered and the parts master is accurate.
  • Strong proficiency across both the Apple and PC ecosystems, including enterprise‑grade, high‑value, and custom‑configured devices.
  • Ability to oversee and maintain configuration standards, repair quality benchmarks, and technical accuracy across the repair workflow.
  • Skilled in supporting high‑priority client builds, custom configurations, and specialized hardware setups
  • Ability to evaluate asset condition, repair feasibility, and component-level cost-effectiveness
  • Experience supporting leadership with technical insights that influence value‑based disposition decisions
  • Strong leadership and mentoring ability to train, coach, and support Tier 1 and Tier 2 repair technicians
  • Ability to help establish repair standards, workflows, and SOP improvements
  • Proven ability to assign, prioritize, and oversee a team's daily repair workflow to hit production targets
  • Experience reporting throughput, yield, and quality metrics to management
  • Comfortable coordinating across departments, including Receiving, Quality Assurance, and Logistics, to keep repair output aligned with fulfillment needs
  • Prior lead, supervisor, or team-lead experience in a repair, production, or technical environment preferred
  • Comfortable owning a defined metric (One Number) and reporting progress against it on a weekly cadence
  • Experience with parts and inventory control, including cycle counts and stock-level management
  • Skilled at monitoring repair yield, diagnosing recurring failure patterns, and recommending process improvements
  • Strong process‑improvement mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and suggest workflow enhancements
  • Strong documentation discipline to ensure accurate ERP compliance, repair notes, and inventory movement
  • Ability to maintain a high‑accuracy, high‑quality output while supporting production throughput goals
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain a clean, efficient, and safe work area
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe repair workstation

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex or intermittent hardware failures
  • Repair AIOs, laptops, PC’s, tablets, servers, smartphones, tablets, and Apple products at a high production level of 20-25 units per day
  • Provide advanced board-level or component-level repairs
  • Oversee configuration standards and quality benchmarks
  • Own daily and weekly production targets for the repair team and drive the team to hit them
  • Own the repair department's One Number under PlanITROI's ONMA framework and report progress against it weekly
  • Assign and prioritize repair work across the team based on technician skill level, order priority, and daily volume
  • Report repair throughput, yield, and quality metrics to management on a regular cadence
  • Coordinate with Receiving, Quality Assurance, and Logistics to align repair output with fulfillment and shipping schedules
  • Assist management with repair vs. liquidation decision strategy
  • Train and coach Tier 1 & Tier 2 technicians
  • Help establish repair standards, workflows, and cost-efficiency initiatives
  • Monitor repair yield and recommend process improvements
  • Ensure accurate inventory movement and ERP compliance
  • Own parts and inventory control for the repair area, including cycle counts, stock levels, and shrinkage tracking
  • Support high-priority client builds and custom configurations
