About The Position

This role is responsible for the ongoing repair and general maintenance of store facilities, equipment, fixtures, and building assets. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to complete maintenance activities, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support store operations. You will ensure stores are well maintained, safe, and operating efficiently.

Requirements

  • Typically requires completion of post-secondary education in a related discipline, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in building/residential repair and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or refrigeration systems.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license is required with the ability to travel frequently between retail locations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and business needs.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to urgent maintenance issues.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, with the ability to obtain and maintain certification to operate power equipment and work at heights.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify maintenance issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Comfortable working in an environment that involves multiple deadlines, extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, repetitive tasks, frequent use of protective equipment, and work that may be performed in colder environments, with flexible availability including evenings, overnight, and weekends as required.
  • Fluency in English

Nice To Haves

  • A Certificate of Qualification or Provisional Certificate of Qualification in a skilled trade such as: plumbing, electrical, or HVAC considered an asset.
  • Experience in general contracting or equipment maintenance considered an asset.
  • French language skills considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled store inspections and complete maintenance checklists to identify and address repair and general maintenance needs.
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair commercial equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs and complete assigned work orders for maintenance, repairs, equipment installations, and system testing to ensure all activities are properly documented.
  • Identify and support process improvements related to equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and operational performance.
  • Assist with new store set-ups and renovation projects as required.
  • Purchase and track parts and maintenance materials as needed.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and urgent repair needs as required.
  • Safely operate power equipment and perform spotter duties where required, maintaining appropriate certifications including working at heights.
  • Perform general construction and building repairs, including: concrete repair, floor or wall sealing.
  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly work plans to prioritize and complete maintenance activities and work orders.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures, with particular attention to proper equipment use, machine safety, and personal protective equipment.
  • Support the team with other related duties as assigned on a periodic basis.
