About The Position

The Maintenance Machine Repair Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, performing preventive maintenance on, and rebuilding plant pump systems, air and hydraulic systems, and machines. The role also involves modifying and improving existing equipment, sharing knowledge with other employees, and assisting Production in maintaining high equipment uptime. The technician works extended schedules during shutdown periods.

The position is part of the Maintenance Department and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. It is classified as non-exempt hourly.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Machine Repair, Millwright, Machine Builder, or related skilled-trade background, and/or a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in one of these trades.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and various hand tools.
• General maintenance knowledge.

Nice To Haves

• Welding.
• Fabrication.
• Ability to operate a mill, lathe, drill press, and cut-off saw.
• Ability to read blueprints and layouts.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the Carbondale Plant Safety Program.
• Communicate shift activities with other maintenance personnel and maintenance supervisors.
• Break down work orders to determine feasibility and the resources needed to complete them.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to maximize equipment performance.
• Interact with equipment suppliers.
• Develop repair procedures and monitor them as needed.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions for equipment improvements.
• Actively participate in department meetings.
• Make some decisions based on limited information available at the time.
• Perform shutdown activities.
• Communicate equipment and process changes with Production.
• Communicate equipment upgrades with Engineering.
• Investigate equipment and/or process problems.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and rebuild plant pump systems, air and hydraulic systems, and machines.
• Modify and improve existing equipment.
• Train other employees and pass along knowledge.
• Assist Production in maintaining a high level of equipment uptime.
• Work extended schedules during shutdown periods.
