About The Position

To better serve our customers with a more rapid response on orders of non-case stock items by custom packaging into merchandising vehicles. Improving the output of the packaging department by taking customized display type items off the line.

Requirements

  • Less than a high school diploma; 1 to 3 months of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Lift truck certification (walk behind).
  • Ability to print and speak simple English sentences.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and or procedure manuals.
  • Ability to complete routine forms, daily production documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.
  • Ability to perform these operations using any or all units of weight measurement, volume, distance, and American money.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in any or all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to evaluate product based on experience and visible attributes.
  • Must be able to stand/ walk for 8-9 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop and squat, reach above shoulders as needed for day to day responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Must have good hand and eye coordination.
  • Must be able to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or less.
  • Must be able to work overtime, during peak production periods.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging of vacuum-packed and gas-flushed processed meat products into a large variety of shipping containers, displays, and merchandising vehicles.
  • Takes responsibility of work area to produce a safe and quality food product.
  • Reporting all food safety and quality related problems to your manage and to the QA department to initiate immediate action.
  • Other duties as assigned.
