About The Position

The primary function of this position is to assist the Rep-Payee Manager in monitoring the collective accounts held by The Arc New Mexico on behalf of Social Security beneficiaries (Arc clients). This includes exercising discretionary authority and conforming to all regulations, policies, and compliance functions required by law. A successful Rep-Payee Program Specialist will produce positive outcomes by maintaining objectivity, ensuring money spent enhances the client's life, and staying up-to-date on all federal, state, and local laws regarding SSI, Medicaid, and the NM Income Support Division.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of financial and administrative experience.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Must have a car, valid driver's license, and meet the required automobile insurance minimums for the State of N.M.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intake for The Arc of New Mexico Rep-Payee Program using eligibility criteria established by the program and Social Security Administration requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, guardians, family members, and providers to establish budgets, payment plans, and financial education goals.
  • Maintain communication with clients, guardians, agencies, and family living providers regarding account activity and client needs.
  • Respond to client payment requests in a timely, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Assist with monitoring collective accounts for all clients consistent with program guidelines and SSA requirements.
  • Assist with management of client accounts, including bill payments, disbursements, and ensuring funds are available for client needs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of SSI, Medicaid, and Income Support Division rules and requirements.
  • Produce monthly wage reports and submit required documentation to the Social Security Administration.
  • Generate timely and accurate reports for agencies, banks, clients, Social Security Administration, and Income Support Division.
  • Develop and maintain document filing and records management schedules.
  • Maintain and update confidential databases and client records for the Rep-Payee Program.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records and documentation necessary for compliance, audits, and program reporting requirements.
  • Participate in client education plans, financial education efforts, and Arc-sponsored trainings.
  • Apply the use of technology and software systems to improve efficiency and quality of service delivery.
  • Support continuous improvement of program workflows, systems, and service delivery practices.
  • Other duties as assigned that meet the minimum qualifications of this position.
