About The Position

Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world's largest lift truck manufacturers, offers local support on a global scale with more than 15 manufacturing facilities worldwide and more than 500 retail locations in over 80 countries. Their global sales and service network provides customers with a local resource for a wide variety of quality material handling equipment, fleet management solutions, warehouse products and support services. The Rental Manager will oversee all rental and used equipment activities, aiming to maximize financial performance. This role involves ensuring quality shop work and timely shipments to customers, managing the buying and selling of equipment, including transfers between branches, and overseeing inventory, maintenance, and depreciation. The manager is also responsible for scheduling, delivery, and pickup of all equipment, developing sales strategies, coordinating with other departments, and setting pricing for used equipment. Direct contact with current and prospective customers, including performing trade-in evaluations at customer facilities, is also a key part of the role. Additionally, the position includes recruiting, selecting, training, developing, and counseling personnel.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years related experience
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to safely operate lift trucks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Business or Marketing
  • Three to five years experience managing a rental/used fleet with lift trucks and batteries preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and department performance reports.
  • Good computer skills with a working knowledge of Excel and Word programs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all rental and used equipment activities while maximizing financial performance.
  • Ensure quality shop work and timely shipment to the customer.
  • Manage buying and selling of equipment, including possible equipment transfers between branches. Manage inventory, maintenance, and depreciation of equipment. Oversee scheduling, delivery, and pickup of all equipment.
  • Develop sales strategies and coordinate with other departments. Set the pricing for used equipment.
  • Maintain direct contact with current and prospective customers. Accompany sales personnel to perform trade-in evaluations at customer facilities.
  • Recruit, select, train, develop, and counsel personnel.
