About The Position

The Renovation Technician performs apartment renovation and maintenance work. Prepares and finishes walls, ceilings, doors, trim, cabinets, and other interior surfaces to a clean, professional standard while protecting resident property and maintaining safe, orderly work areas. Also performs general renovation duties involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical fixtures, cabinetry, appliances, and mechanical equipment as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Monitors project timelines, completes required apartment checklists, records work in WorxHub. Requirements

  • A high school or vocational school graduate
  • Demonstrated skills in surface preparation, drywall repair, taping, mudding, sanding, caulking, priming, and finish painting, with at least two years of practical experience in renovation or maintenance
  • Ability to safely use brushes, rollers, spray equipment, sanders, ladders, and common drywall, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical hand tools.
  • Ability to match and blend paint colors and textures and consistently produce a clean, professional finish.
  • Must be capable of reading blueprints, installation drawings, and complex equipment operating sequences from prints.
  • Willingness to receive annual flu vaccine during flu season (Oct - May)

  • Experience performing renovation tasks in an occupied residential, senior living, hospitality, or healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect walls, ceilings, trim, doors, cabinets, and other surfaces to determine required repairs and surface preparation.
  • Protect resident property by covering floors, furniture, and fixtures and maintaining a clean, organized, dust-controlled work area.
  • Repair and finish drywall and plaster, including patching, taping, mudding, sanding, skim coating, caulking, and texture matching.
  • Prepare surfaces and apply primers, paints, stains, and other approved coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, cabinets, and common areas.
  • Perform final quality inspections and touch-up work to ensure a professional finish.
  • Maintain painting and drywall tools, equipment, and shop organization; monitor inventory and report material needs.
  • Remove, install, and repair cabinets, countertops, doors, trim, molding, shelving, hardware, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, and other apartment components.
  • Perform rough and finish carpentry, framing, sheetrock installation, drywall finishing, and general renovation work.
  • Complete basic plumbing repairs and installations, including using a sewer snake and replacing fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair fan coil units, appliances, commercial laundry equipment, pneumatic controls, generators, and other building systems as assigned.
  • Serve as a resource for apartment renovations, new construction projects, and general maintenance activities.
  • Keep the Maintenance Supervisor informed of project progress, delays, safety concerns, or material needs.
  • Complete all work in compliance with OSHA standards, manufacturer guidelines, and established safety procedures.
  • Accurately document labor, materials, and project status in WorxHub.
  • Assist other maintenance team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
