About The Position

Conducts remelt operations, ensuring all procedures are followed correctly. Performs quality assurance checks and transports as required to ensure efficient and safe process flow. Follows oral and written instructions, wears protective equipment where and when directed, and obeys all plant and safety rules and regulations. Supports the facility’s mission, safety and ISO goals and directives and is an active participant of the Remington Team.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate or recognized equivalent
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following: Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision, Read and comprehend process instructions, Record pertinent process information as required
  • Must possess basic personal computer skills sufficient enough to navigate menus and select, open and print documents.
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 with normal depth perception and peripheral vision
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 25 lbs. unaided
  • Ability to push a loaded production buggy weighing as much as 1,000 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit for up to 3 hours at a time
  • Ability to occasionally kneel, crouch, bend or extend reach as required to perform tasks
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs
  • Ability to grasp and feel small parts
  • Ability to handle metal plates of small components and precisely place plates for assembly in automated equipment. Typical cycle times of 15 to 25 seconds per plate.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect containers of remelt lead for contaminants that could cause potential fires. Containers of contaminated remelt lead shall not be dumped into the remelt pots until contents have been removed.
  • Barrels of wire which contain liquid contaminants needs to be drained and allowed (1-3 days) to dry before attempting to process in the system.
  • Loads wire, billets, ingots, and small material in totes or barrels onto the conveyor belt in small portions.
  • Conveys enough scrap to completely fill the pot.
  • Skims off dross contaminants on the top with the dross dipper once the lead has been melted.
  • Pumps the lead into the pig molds.
  • After the molds cool and harden, the lead pigs are dumped out and stacked where they are easily moved by forklift.
  • Weighs the stacked pigs on the floor scale, completes weight transaction, and then locates them in the proper storage location until needed by CF production.
  • Responsible for changing the lead pump, drowsing the pot, or anything else pertinent to maintain the complete building system as required.
