About The Position

This role involves assisting with the delivery of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) sessions, preparing materials and the learning environment, managing administrative tasks related to registration and communication, and supporting children in their preparation for sacraments. The assistant will also collaborate with the Director of Religious Education (DRE) on planning and executing various special events throughout the year, including family events, symposia, service projects, sacrament retreats, and Masses. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with the St. Augustin Catholic School religious education teacher for school-related events and coordination of youth volunteers for general parish activities.

Requirements

• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
• Experience working with children.

Nice To Haves

• Certified in at least one level of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd approach.
• Willingness to advance in further certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) sessions on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons/evenings.
• Prepare CGS atria and materials for each session.
• Prepare online registration, class lists, attendance sheets, and other program forms.
• Assist with communication to catechists and parents.
• Assist in preparing children for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
• Collaborate with the DRE on planning and delivery of special events such as Family Orientation potluck, CGS Symposium, "Shoebox" gift service project, Sacrament retreats, First Holy Communion and Confirmation Masses and receptions, May Crowning Mass, Senior Brunch, and Catechist meetings.
• Collaborate with the DRE and St. Augustin Catholic School religious education teacher for school retreats, vacation bible school, etc.
• Coordinate youth volunteers for general parish events.
• Provide assistance for parish special events like Feast Day, Mardi Gras, and St. Patrick’s Day.
