Under the direction of the Pastor, the Coordinator of Religious Education is responsible for the management of the Religious Education program for the Parish. The Coordinator shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, living in a manner worthy of the call received. This ministerial position involves supporting the parish's spiritual and pastoral mission and adhering to Catholic principles in both professional and private life. The role requires assisting the Pastor or Principal in articulating a vision, assessing needs, setting priorities, goals, and objectives, and implementing action plans. It also involves communicating and cooperating with all parish ministers and staff, serving as a resource, and participating in meetings. The Coordinator will plan curriculum, assess needs, and incorporate prayer, service, and outreach. Responsibilities include administering Religious Education programs, coordinating programs, assigning catechists and volunteers, maintaining sacramental records, setting facilities guidelines, ensuring a safe environment, recruiting and forming catechists according to Diocesan guidelines, managing religious education staff (screening, employment, volunteer assignment), coordinating with Diocesan staff, ensuring adherence to personnel policies, preparing reports, and ensuring adherence to Diocese of Tucson Safe Environment requirements. The role may also involve drafting and implementing Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for youth activities and performing other assigned duties.
