About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant in Olympia, WA! This role involves providing nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. The assistant will report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds. They will also need to understand the classification of commonly used medications, their associated side effects, and monitor therapeutic response. Administering medications via appropriate routes and duration, performing physical exams, and accurately counting vital signs are key responsibilities. The position also requires a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assisting with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications. Staying current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrating proficiency in designated roles is also expected.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
