About The Position
Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians opportunities to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role provides flexible online scheduling, with no minimum or maximum number of shifts. Weekday and weekend hours are available, and veterinarians set their own rate for each shift. Veterinarians may continue practice activities outside their Petco shifts, with no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports veterinarians leaving on time. Trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency care, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals offer preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures, using equipment that includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and fully equipped surgery suites. There are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. The position includes a 15% discount on Petco products and services.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
- DEA license in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- Professional Liability Insurance and a license defense policy.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal mandates.
Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary care during relief shifts in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and/or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- Perform shift functions in accordance with applicable state-specific licensing, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
- Provide care within the services available at the selected setting, such as wellness checks, vaccinations, testing, microchip placement, diagnostics, outpatient surgery, or dental procedures.
