About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services is hiring relief veterinarians to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and/or Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Relief veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to select shifts that fit their lifestyle. There is no minimum or maximum number of shifts, weekday and weekend hours are available, and veterinarians set their own rate for each shift. They may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees.

The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports on-time departures. Trained, experienced staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites. Hospital shifts do not involve overnight or emergency on-call work. Petco offers a 15% discount on its products and services.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
• DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care during selected relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics and/or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• At vaccination clinics, provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement.
• At full-service hospitals, provide services that may include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
• Comply with all local, state, and federal mandates.
