Vetco Relief Veterinarian - Palm Coast, FL

Vetco Clinics•Palm Coast, FL

About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians shifts in two settings: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. They are primarily located inside Petco stores, with some operating from advanced mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals offer preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. They are equipped with digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Licensed and trained hospital staff support care delivery. Neither setting requires overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Relief veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to select shifts that suit their lifestyle. There is no minimum or maximum number of shifts, and weekday and weekend hours are available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and pay no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports on-time departures, while trained staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Petco provides a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, as well as a 15% discount on Petco products and services. The role requires a veterinarian with a state license in good standing, applicable state-specific licensing to perform shift duties, and the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines. Relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals also require a DEA registration in good standing. Professional liability insurance with a license defense policy and compliance with local, state, and federal mandates are required. Shifts are available across locations in 48 states.
