About The Position
Petco Veterinary Services is seeking relief veterinarians to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role offers flexible online scheduling, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement and weekday and weekend hours available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift and may continue practice activities outside their Petco shifts, with no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports veterinarians in leaving on time. Trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on care. Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Total Care hospitals offer preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. They have digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites. There are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Relief veterinarians receive clinic updates through a monthly newsletter and a 15% discount on Petco products and services.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
- DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance and a license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary services during relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics and/or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- At Vaccination Clinics, provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement.
- At Total Care hospitals, provide services that may include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
- Perform shift functions in accordance with applicable state-specific licensing requirements, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
- Comply with local, state, and federal mandates.
