About The Position

Vetco, a division of Petco, is seeking independent veterinary contractors to provide relief veterinarian services. Our appointment-based model and trained staff ensure efficient operations, allowing you to focus on patient care. We have two types of relief shifts available: Vetco Vaccination Clinics, which focus on preventive care, and Vetco Total Care Hospitals, which include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. We provide a monthly newsletter with updates and offer a 15% Petco discount.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy.
Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
DEA in good standing preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.

Responsibilities

Provide wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations, and medications.
Perform heartworm testing and microchip insertion at vaccination clinics.
Conduct preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures at total care hospitals.
Partner with the area medical director to review case comfort levels at total care hospitals.
Deliver high-quality veterinary care and patient experience.
