About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the opportunity to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role offers flexible online scheduling, with no minimum or maximum number of shifts, and weekday and weekend shifts available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift and may continue practicing outside Petco shifts without agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports leaving on time, while trained staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care.

At Vetco Vaccination Clinics, veterinarians provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. These clinics do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care and are primarily located in Petco stores, with some operating from mobile vans. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Hospital shifts do not involve overnight or emergency on-call work. Relief veterinarians receive a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, and a 15% discount on Petco products and services.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
• State veterinary license in good standing.
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
• DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
• Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.

Responsibilities
