About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services is seeking relief veterinarians to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to select weekday and weekend shifts, with no minimum or maximum number of shifts required, and set their own rate for each shift. They may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees.

The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, and trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals offer preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital relief shifts do not involve overnight or emergency on-call work. Veterinarians receive clinic updates through a monthly newsletter and a 15% discount on Petco products and services.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
• Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
• Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
• A DEA registration in good standing is required for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care during selected relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• Perform shift duties within the scope of appropriate state-specific licensing, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
• Comply with applicable local, state, and federal mandates.
