Five Keys is a nonprofit organization that operates an extensive network of programs across California. With a presence in 14 counties and over 120 locations, Five Keys focuses on various initiatives aimed at empowering individuals and families to overcome poverty and inequity. The organization's programs encompass a wide range of services, including public charter schools, restorative justice programs in jails and prisons, shelters, permanent supportive housing, and the development of new housing and support programs. This includes education, housing, employment, and the necessary tools to sustain their progress. The Reinvest Workforce Navigator reports to the Reinvest Program Manager and is accountable for delivering system navigation and employment support services to participants in the California Community Reinvestment Grants Program (CalCRG). This role provides direct services including outreach, intake, needs assessment, individualized service planning, and ongoing case management. The Workforce Navigator also leads job development efforts by engaging employers, building workforce partnerships, and connecting participants to employment opportunities. The position coordinates and facilitates monthly workshops focused on life skills, wellness, and workforce readiness to promote participant stability and long-term success. The Workforce Navigator maintains accurate documentation, tracks participant progress, and ensures compliance with all CalCRG reporting requirements. Requirements

  • Understanding of the systemic barriers to employment faced by underserved or justice-involved populations, and strategies for barrier removal
  • Knowledge of local workforce development systems, community-based organizations, and social service resources
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and restorative justice practices.
  • Proficient in case management skills, including assessing client needs, developing individualized employment plans, and tracking progress
  • Advanced proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and databases
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and take all precautions when handling sensitive information
  • Experience in career coaching, resume and cover letter development, and interview preparation techniques
  • Experience with motivational interviewing or similar counseling techniques to encourage and guide clients
  • Frequent talking and hearing conversations
  • Long periods of walking, sitting at a desk and/or computer station
  • Lifting items that weigh up to 25 lbs; reaching, bending, carrying and stooping within the daily routine of tasks and activities
  • Moderate noise level
  • Work environment varies from site to site
  • Some personal safety risk working in underserved communities
  • In office must live in Northern or Southern California where Five Keys operates
  • Up to 30% travel to site locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead outreach, engagement, and enrollment efforts through community events, tabling, and partner referrals to meet program enrollment goals
  • Complete participant intake, needs assessments, and individualized service plans in alignment with program requirements
  • Manage an ongoing caseload of participants and provide consistent follow-up and support throughout the program
  • Provide system navigation services including case management, advocacy, barrier removal, and referrals to employment, education, housing, healthcare, and supportive services
  • Provide job development services including job readiness support, resume assistance, interview preparation, employer engagement, and connection to job opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and workforce partners to create pathways to employment for participants
  • Transition eligible participants to workforce programs or other employment opportunities
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly life skills, wellness, and/or workforce readiness workshops
  • Coordinate and track participant attendance for workshops, orientations, and services
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with local service providers and maintain community relationships to enhance participants access to supportive services
  • When requested attend community events, partner meetings, and outreach activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely data entry in Salesforce or other required databases, including case notes, services, outcomes, and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and maintain reporting and invoicing documentation, ensuring all data is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Meet performance targets related to enrollment, service delivery, barrier removal, and employment outcomes
  • Perform all duties in strict compliance with CalCRG grant requirements, including documentation, reporting, and service delivery standards
  • Participate in team meetings, program reviews, and required trainings
  • Maintain flexibility in schedule and responsibilities, including occasional changes in hours or duties, to meet program and contractual obligations
