Supports the efficiency of the Licensed Therapy Provider and the smooth functioning of the rehabilitation department. This role involves direct patient contact activities under the supervision of a licensed provider, such as patient positioning and transfers, preparation and application of therapeutic modalities, follow-through on routine patient exercises, and assisting with crutch walking and gait training. The aide also improves therapist efficiency by starting patient treatments during overlaps and employing other problem-solving strategies. Effective communication with patients and therapists is crucial, including anticipating needs and conveying patient status changes and responses to treatment. Additionally, the role encompasses registration, scheduling, cashiering, admitting, and follow-up of patients to ensure efficient and courteous care, as well as coordinating appointments. Reception and clerical duties include answering phones, taking messages, transferring calls, greeting, registering, and scheduling patients, billing, faxing, photocopying, assembling medical records, and managing mail. The aide reviews therapy orders in the electronic medical records system, maintains department files, processes billing/reimbursement forms, completes insurance verifications and authorizations, and tracks reauthorizations. Monitoring the therapy environment for patient experience standards, ordering, stocking, and organizing equipment and supplies, and managing linens are also key responsibilities. Minor troubleshooting of office equipment, cleaning and disinfecting treatment areas and equipment, and performing routine maintenance/safety checks are also part of the role. Travel may be required.
