About The Position

Works under the general supervision of the rehab manager/supervisor and the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, or occupational therapist. Assists therapists with patient treatments, scheduling, and the overall efficiency of the department. Promotes quality care by maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from the department as needed.
• Sets up equipment and prepares the treatment environment for the therapist.
• Assists physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and occupational therapists in administering selected treatments as directed and according to established procedures.
• Prepares and cares for equipment and supplies necessary for department operations.
• Maintains an adequate linen supply and assists with folding and storage.
• Cleans therapy areas as assigned or scheduled, using prescribed infection-control techniques.
• Maintains inventory of therapy and cleaning supplies.
• Performs clerical tasks as needed, including filing, copying, and faxing, and provides backup assistance to the front office as needed.
• Responds to real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to established procedures.
• Communicates with patients, family members, and significant others to promote maximum benefit of care, using AIDET.
• Operates the courtesy van as needed to transport patients.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.
