About The Position
Frederick Health Hospital is seeking a full-time Physical Therapy Aide (Rehabilitation Aide) to support their hospital acute therapy team. This role is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on healthcare experience before graduate school or those wanting to make a difference while working alongside experienced rehabilitation professionals. The position offers valuable clinical experience in a fast-paced hospital setting, working directly with licensed therapists and assisting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey. This role provides real-world exposure to hospital acute rehabilitation, preparing individuals for graduate school or a long-term healthcare career. You will gain experience in patient interaction, therapeutic exercise programs, physical and occupational therapy treatment procedures, rehabilitation equipment, hospital acute operations, teamwork, medical documentation support, and hospital acute rehabilitation services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital acute setting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to fulfill the weekend and holiday requirements
Nice To Haves
- Previous rehabilitation, therapy clinic, or healthcare experience
- Students pursuing careers in: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Other healthcare professions
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists during patient treatment sessions
- Help patients perform therapeutic exercises and activities as directed
- Prepare treatment areas before and after appointments
- Maintain, clean, and organize rehabilitation equipment and rehab area
- Stock supplies and treatment areas
- Assist with patient flow
- Monitor and organize therapy equipment
- Support therapists with daily clinical operations
- Deliver exceptional customer service to every patient and visitor
