Responsibilities

  • Performs daily operations for office communications including answering and initiating calls, scheduling, typing, electronic and paper filing.
  • Fills in for any position within the department at a moment’s notice due to absenteeism or coverage purposes to ensure the department flow/operate within the required business hours.
  • Verifies insurance and performs required actions concerning documentation from licensed PT, OT, or ST prior to patient care and during active plan of care.
  • Reviews completion of physical, occupational, and speech therapy evaluations for prior to exportation of documentation for billing department and reimbursement sources.
  • Submits and obtains pre-certifications, re-certifications for payor sources who currently require timely documentation for approval of services.
  • Contacts patients concerning appointment confirmations, rescheduling, cancellations, or initiation or termination of plan of care.
  • Mails or faxes desired documentation to physicians.
  • Utilizes EMR for rehabilitation reconciliation of supporting documents.
  • Obtains patients' personal information and updates medical histories.
  • Assists patients to reach examination and treatment rooms.
  • Conducts initial assessments and basic diagnostic tests.
  • Supports physical therapists with complicated treatments, as well as assisting patients with physical activities.
  • Maintains and updates patient records.
  • Manages patient mobility within the facility.
  • Sterilizes therapeutic equipment and ensures that facilities are kept clean and tidy.
  • Safely disposes of hazardous waste and soiled materials.
  • Directs questions and concerns to Director of Rehabilitation in a timely manner.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation and Hospital Administration.
  • Provides prompt notice of absence or need for change of schedule with Director of Rehabilitation via telephone.
  • Obtains prior authorizations, re-certifications, and signed plan of care required by payor sources.
  • Performs daily clinical paperwork and documentation for the rehab department that is mandatory for continuous patient care including reviewing of charges, mailing and faxing paperwork to referring physicians, initiating and receiving phone calls in department, assisting therapists for reconciliation of billing for medical records, verification of insurance, reviewing and obtaining knowledge for insurances, word processing operations, scheduling assistance, and maintaining required statistical data that may assist with management of department.
  • Assists with greeting of all patients and aiding patients entering the clinic.
  • Schedules patients following all referrals in physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
  • Monitors Artera communications to provide patients with necessary feedback and appointment reminders.
