This full-time position supports the efficiency of the Licensed Therapy Provider and the smooth functioning of the rehabilitation department. The role involves direct patient contact activities under the supervision of a licensed provider, such as patient positioning and transfers, preparation and application of therapeutic modalities, follow-through on routine patient exercises, and assisting with crutch walking and gait training. The aide improves therapist efficiency by starting patient treatments during overlaps and utilizing other problem-solving strategies. They communicate effectively with patients and therapists, anticipate needs, and convey patient status changes and responses to treatment to the appropriate therapist. The position also handles registration, scheduling, cashiering, admitting, and follow-up of patients to ensure efficient and courteous care, coordinating appointments with other areas or physician offices as needed. Clerical duties include answering phones, taking messages, transferring calls, greeting, registering, and scheduling patients, billing, faxing, photocopying, assembling medical records, and processing mail. The aide reviews therapy orders in the electronic medical records system, maintains department files, processes billing/reimbursement forms, and completes insurance verifications and authorizations, tracking reauthorizations. They monitor the therapy environment to ensure patient experience standards are met, order, stock, and organize therapy equipment and supplies, and manage linens. The role involves monitoring and troubleshooting department office equipment, cleaning and disinfecting gym/treatment areas and equipment according to standards, and performing routine maintenance/safety checks. Travel may be required, exposing the incumbent to road and weather hazards.
