This part-time position supports the efficiency of the Licensed Therapy Provider and the smooth functioning of the rehabilitation department. It offers direct patient contact activities under the supervision of a licensed provider, such as patient positioning and transfers, preparation and application of therapeutic modalities, follow-through on routine patient exercises, assisting with crutch walking and gait training. The role also improves therapist efficiency by starting patient treatments during overlaps and utilizing other problem-solving strategies. It involves excellent communication with patients and therapists, anticipating needs, and conveying patient status changes and responses to treatment. Additionally, the position handles registration, scheduling, cashiering, admitting, and follow-up of patients, coordinating appointments, and performing reception/clerical duties including answering phones, taking messages, transferring calls, greeting, registering and scheduling patients, billing, faxing, photocopying, assembling patient medical records, and managing mail. The role also involves reviewing therapy orders in the electronic medical records system, maintaining department files and records, processing billing/reimbursement forms, completing insurance verifications and authorizations, and tracking reauthorizations. The position monitors the therapy environment to ensure it meets patient experience standards, orders, stocks, and organizes therapy equipment and supplies, and manages linens. It also monitors department office equipment, troubleshoots minor problems, and cleans and disinfects gym/treatment areas, equipment, tables, wheelchairs, walkers, pool, and hydrotherapy units according to established standards. Routine maintenance/safety checks and completion of work orders are also part of the responsibilities.
