About The Position

This Regulatory Specialist III works within the Osteopathic Unit, Bureau of Health Care Practitioners and Division of Medical Quality Assurance. This unit is responsible for the licensure of health care practitioners with specific focus on Osteopathic Medicine, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Midwifery, and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. This Regulatory Specialist III will primarily focus on Massage Therapy, and Council of Licensed Midwifery. This position spends a major portion of their time managing the preparation of agendas for Board meetings, including committee and /or special task force meetings, as well as preparing minutes, audio files, and reviewing final orders. They also schedule probable cause panels, manage the agendas for those panels, and prepare the minutes of those meetings. This position is responsible for processing applications in the licensing database (LEIDS) or continuing education database (CEBroker) as appropriate and issue correspondence concerning application deficiencies to applicants in process or licensure to approved applicants. This position also: Ensures that application processing and eligibility decisions are completed in accordance with established criteria and time frames of laws and rules, Monitors the accuracy and timeliness of application and licensure data entered into electronic databases, and ensures that security procedures are followed to prevent breaches of confidentiality or the loss of records, Ensures that the Board’s internet website is maintained and that other technology used to support efficient functioning of the boards is up to date and functional, and performs other duties as assigned. Assist with administrative duties related to the processing of applications including, but not limited to processing supplemental documentation, preparing supplemental documentation for scanning, and preparing refund forms. Analyze and recommend solutions to administrative problems relating to application deficiencies and required qualifications. This position also communicates verbally and in writing with the general public, medical community, applicants, and licensees, providing guidance regarding the regulatory process. This Regulatory Specialist III will also evaluate policies and procedures and recommend changes to improve processes and efficiency. This position also reviews and processes applications. This Regulatory Specialist is aware of all aspects of the licensing process and is able to assist others as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and ability to interpret Florida Statutes and administrative codes in regards to licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in using Windows-based computers.
  • Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software such as LEIDS and AxiomPro and office equipment such as phones, fax machines, scanners, and copiers.
  • Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data.
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities on a pre-approved work schedule.
  • Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must be physically present in the office to effectively perform job duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
