About The Position

The Research & Development (R&D) team drives innovation, product development, and technological advancements across its juice and beverage portfolio. Focused on creating unique flavors, enhancing nutritional value, and improving formulations, the team ensures products meet evolving consumer preferences. They lead projects from concept to launch, ensuring efficient execution while aligning with business goals. Committed to sustainability, they develop innovative packaging solutions that are biodegradable, recyclable, and environmentally friendly. Additionally, they uphold rigorous nutritional science and regulatory standards, validating health claims and ensuring compliance. With a strong emphasis on food safety, quality, and process engineering, the team optimizes manufacturing systems to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain product excellence. Collaborating closely with scientists, nutritionists, and engineers, Tropicana’s R&D team plays a crucial role in keeping products competitive, sustainable, and aligned with market demands. We are looking to add a Regulatory and Nutrition Specialist to the Regulatory and Nutrition team reporting into R&D. This role will be responsible for managing certification programs for several beverage brands across TBG’s portfolio, playing a pivotal role in the innovation and launch process and supporting nutrition communication activities. Tropicana is looking for a critical thinker with exceptional communication, influencing and relationship management skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be located in Chicago, Illinois or surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment.
  • Willingness to adapt and thrive in a blended work environment with 3-days in office, seamlessly transitioning between remote work and in-office operations.
  • BS in Food and Nutrition, Food Science, or Science-related equivalent.
  • 1-2 years regulatory and/or nutrition experience, with an interest in learning FDA and Health Canada food and beverage regulations.
  • Knowledge of Organic, Kosher, and Non-GMO Project Verified certifications
  • An understanding of GMO and bioengineering regulation in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong collaborating skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, balance multiple tasks and work independently
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meet aggressive timelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Adobe, SAP-PLM including working in product specification, regulatory and/or product lifecycle management software.
  • English required

Nice To Haves

  • Registered dietitian nutritionist is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with suppliers to obtain ingredient information, including certification documentation
  • Managing kosher, organic, non-gmo, and other certifications along with annual renewals
  • Participating in the development and execution of a nutrition communications strategy
  • Assisting the department with ad-hoc presentation development and meeting preparation
  • Supporting the PLM team with PLM systems process development and data management
  • Tracking and reporting on projects and metrics
  • Managing certification programs for several beverage brands across TBG’s portfolio
  • Playing a pivotal role in the innovation and launch process
  • Supporting nutrition communication activities
  • Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with US and Canadian regulations
