About The Position

This is professional work reviewing and processing consumptive use of permit applications and conducting compliance. The role involves reviewing and processing permit applications, conducting compliance and enforcement actions, and performing site inspections. The position requires a combination of field and office work, including operating a personal computer to produce work products.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, hydrology, engineering, or related field.
One-year professional experience in geology, hydrology, or related field (for Regulatory Hydrologist II).
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in geology or hydrology can substitute for the required experience.
Professional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Valid Florida driver's license.
Ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings.

Nice To Haves

Experience with the District's EReg and ePermit systems.
Experience with groundwater modeling, environmental reviews, agricultural assistance, or water supply.
Experience with aquifer performance tests, and well construction and testing plans.

Responsibilities

Reviews and processes simple to moderately complex consumptive use permit applications, including conducting pre-application meetings, reviewing applications for completeness, assisting applicants, coordinating reviews with other staff, reviewing calculations and data, preparing technical staff reports, and entering permit data into the District's EReg and ePermit systems.
Conducts consumptive use permit compliance and enforcement actions on more simple to moderately complex permits, including providing input on compliance issues, conducting site inspections, evaluating compliance submittals, reviewing monitoring reports, responding to complaints, facilitating resolutions to non-compliance issues, performing permit determinations, and documenting compliance actions in EReg.
Communicates regularly with supervisor and service center lead hydrologist on workload, project concerns, and compliance matters.
