About The Position

Relevate Power is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our growing team. Reporting to the Regulatory and Compliance Manager, this role is responsible for coordinating and implementing procedures to ensure adherence to FERC regulatory compliance requirements for hydropower and renewable energy projects. This remote position requires excellent organizational skills and close collaboration with the compliance, asset management, and operations teams. The role also involves occasional travel to project sites for audits, inspections, and coordination with agencies and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Legal/Regulatory Studies, Public Administration, or a related field. Military or equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 3 + years of experience in hydropower regulatory compliance.
  • Working knowledge of federal/state security, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with regulators, stakeholders, and internal leadership.
  • Proficiency with compliance management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and document tracking tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage competing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be located in the Northeast.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management, FERC security regulations, NERC, fish passage, Part 12 regulations, Industrial Hygiene, GIS/AutoCAD, DOE grant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), federal and state agency requirements and support efforts for FERC relicensing and amendment applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of regulatory compliance activities and prepare, review, and submit required regulatory filings, reports, and responses to internal and external stakeholders including FERC and state and federal agencies completely, accurately, and timely.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and stakeholders on issues and requirements pertinent to the assets under the realm of responsibility. Establish and maintain positive relationships to facilitate smooth project approvals and compliance.
  • Provide collaborative regulatory oversight and advisement for all projects in the Maine and New England South sub-regions. Track and respond to regulatory notices, correspondence, and audits promptly and pro-actively. Assist with policy development and staff training on compliance topics.
